Description
This panel sits on the rear shelf just behind the 2 seats. It allows two 6 inches speakers (6.5 inches with a little cutting) to be fitted. You won’t be able to complain about the lack of good audio in your Miata anymore!
Note that once you put the carpet back, the installation is invisible.
Screws will be offered with each panel.

Recently purchased the subwoofer panel to add some additional bass to my NB8B without loosing what little boot space i already have. Currently i have a set of 6.5″ Morel components and just wanted to add an additional kick for the low end.
Pros:
– No other product like it on the market!
– The FPR is really strong and is is really well made.
– Install looks OEM if you dont cut your carpet.
– The added bass can be felt through the stock MX5 / Miata seats (your experience may vary depending on your stereo setup)
Cons:
– Fitment isn’t 100%, but its FRP so i was prepared for a little adjustment of mounting holes (enlarging) and some minor alignment troubles.
– Because of the above i broke one mounting tab the sits against the rear panel (behind the seat)
– Speaker holes aren’t 6″ they are more like 6.25″ and so there isn’t enough FPR material for the Speaker / Sub to be screwed into, (in my experience) i will need to make a custom ring mount for it to be perfect or use some adhesive and glue them in.
All in all very happy with the product for the price and even with COVID19 making shipping unreliable i had my order within 6 weeks.
Also the packaging was incredible, the items are so well wrapped in bubble wrap and foam it took a sold 5 mins just to get it out of the box.
Strongly recommend this item if your looking to add some extra sound to your vehicle.

Just received and installed my rear deck today. More detail below but if you are wanting to improve the audio system in your Miata but are on the fence about picking this item up, just do it. You’ll be happy you did. Overall, the piece is great and the added sound from the rear stage is fantastic.
As noted in the other review there are some minor fitment issues. Several mounting holes had to be elongated to meet up with the factory locations. This was easily remedied with a Dremel tool and some time taking the deck in and out a few times to get everything where it needed to be. I was able to get the deck installed without breaking anything. There was also some issues fitting my 6 1/2” speakers. It’s a little hard to describe, but my speakers were just a fraction bigger than the speaker recess is meant for. The size discrepancy made it so the speaker would not quite sit even on the mounting surface. The difference in size was very small and easily addressed. I ended up putting some 1/4” weather stripping around the perimeter of the mounting surface on the rear deck. This filled the space and allowed the speaker to seal to the deck very well. It required no trimming of the deck to do so. Other than those small issues, the install went as expected. I also had to trim the rear corners of the deck to clear my roll bar but this was expected as it is a required modification of the factory parcel tray as well.
The quality of the product is very good. I ordered the FRP and seems very durable. I was pleasantly surprised that it was black rather than white. I didn’t weigh it or the factory piece but they felt very close in weight. It is also much easier to handle than the factory metal piece as there is no risk of cutting yourself or your seats. Not true of the factory metal deck which has an edge like a razor blade.
Shipping was actually faster than I expected. I received my part in less than 3 weeks. While the box looked a little rough upon arrival, the deck itself was well protected and in perfect shape.
As stated above, the addition of the rear speakers makes a huge difference in overall listening experience in the vehicle. I was initially contemplating cutting the carpet to leave the speakers exposed. I ended up leaving my carpet uncut and covering the speakers. I did cut the factory sound deadening rubber mat and insulation that sits under carpet around the circumference of the speaker so as to block as little sound as possible. With the carpet in place the install is invisible but with the factory sound deadening removed from over the speaker, it still sounds great. I was also able to keep my wind blocker which made me very happy.
Anyways, if you’ve actually got through this review, you’re probably considering getting this product. Stop considering and put it in the cart. You won’t regret it.
